You did a great job creating your game that can run on the PSP as a java midlet and running it via PSPKVM, making your entry is unique and special. You choose a plucky eye-catching title that is hard to miss and ignore. Nicely done!

Unfortunately couldn't get it to run on my PSP (PSPKVM really, tried some different versions and some googling, but never got past just a black screen), worked on PPSSPP without an issue though.

I spent more time installing it than playing, it's a simple game but it's not clear enough what the player needs to do, and I don't know if this counts as a PSP game cause it runs with PSPKVM, but actually was a good work.

Nice balls bro.

I didn't have trouble getting it to run on my PSPgo. The game was a really strange mashup of controls, but that was what makes it challenging. It's weird how slow you rise, yet insanely fast you fall.

I think my high score was around 15. I'm not entirely sure because as soon as you lose it immediately resets to zero and doesn't give you a chance to see it.

But despite all the weirdness, I actually kind of enjoyed it lol. It's certainly an interesting challenge. Nice entry!

I spent more time installing the game than actually playing it lol

The game is very strange, especially how the character moves. Awkwardly jumping to move up the screen and then falling down while strafing at the speed of light. Dodging the balls was a bit of a challenge though so it did feel like I was playing a game and not just some tech demo which is not always easy to achieve during a game jam.

I do wish we had some more lore about THE BALLS. What are THE BALLS? Who are THE BALLS? And most importantly, WHY are THE BALLS?

literally didnt load on a psp, but thats a feature not a bug :)

played it on ppsspp tho and it was good

Developer

Due to the game running on a Java mobile application, the PSP “port” will be running on PSPKVM, a homebrew program designed to emulate Java mobile applications. This is a workaround to get games made on Clickteam Fusion running on the console.

1. Install homebrew like you would normally do, and then launch the game off the XMB and you’ll see the PSPKVM main menu.

2.Since you launched it for the first time, the game is not properly installed. To install it, first press start on "System midlets", then "Find Applications" and finally "Install from memory stick".

3. Navigate to "ms0/PSP/GAMES/THEBALLS/APPS/THEBALLS.JAR" and press start. When it asks for the prefered device, select "J2ME Standard (480*272)" and the game will start for the first time.

If you wish to play the game again, you don't have to repeat these steps everytime you launch it. When you launch the game again, just press circle on "theballs" on "Installed midlets".
