Despite the big initial difficulty curve, (big brain figured it out eventually). It it HARD to get going in this game. Once you get going on some rolls it's a lot easier, which is a weird difficulty curve. Still always hard though. Really cool concept and game and assets

Developer(+1)

Yeah. I don't think it's actually challenging "hard". I just miscalculated the difficulty. As my skill level is the one being used to playtest this, you need to be within a very specific range of skill level. Once it's just a bit lower, it's hard and once your skill level is a bit higher, it's monotonously easy.

I'm actually making another patch(? idk) for this so I'm trying to make that difficulty scalable. I get the feeling that it's even harder than the original but at least it's more consistent... I think.

The Idea was good, the colors and the music were awesome, and there were lots of particles and cool effects.

but you could really ease it up a little, I'm seeing so many games in this jam that are arguably perfect, but their only problem is their difficulty.

if it's too easy, it's not a challenge therefore not fun. if it's too hard, it can't be beaten without spending multiple hours, not fun.

find the balance.

Ehehehe. That’s true. I overlooked the difficulty of the game.

As for what you said about other games, for many of us, it’s usually very hard to tune the difficulty after developing and testing it ourselves in a very condensed time frame. It’s like having a highly-experienced player who understands the ins-n-outs of the game playtest it. Difficulty tuning is definitely a skill that takes experience especially without playtesters.

I’ll try to learn from this and try to gauge the difficulty when developing games for jams next time.

That's the spirit, I'd say your right, difficulty tuning is surely a difficult thing to do.

I liked this a lot!

At first I quite struggled to understand the rules, because I couldn't tell what was happening when I clicked a square (I thought it was swapping tiles, or deleting tiles, I thought there was gravity -- I saw that when you hover over a tile, it seemingly rises up and connects with the tile above it, which misled me).

But once I got past that I enjoyed it quite a lot. It's an interesting take on the match-3 genre I haven't seen before. Here was my playthough if you wanna see my brain firing on all cylinders, ha.

Developer

You thought it was some high-iq heaven-breaking gameplay but it was me! Hooke' Law Enthusiast! Thanks for playing the game. I'll try to go for a full playthrough of all the games for this jam after my exams are done.

For the beginning cases where there isn't a match, ...I simply did not take it into account ehehehehehehe. I was way too numb at that point and thought it was just natural to lose and try your luck next game. Damn you really have good ideas. Your misunderstandings are better than the current gameplay . I should've done that tile swap thing if you fail to pop a group of tiles.

it's fun and colorful. I like it. you have to match 3+ with the color you have, then immediately you need to match more with the next color you have. the timer will start after your first match, so you have to keep going. the main problem is that at some point you won't have the ability to make a match 3. I think probably it takes some very careful planning to keep it going, but that is very hard because it is random and the timer is short. maybe let the timer be longer to start and pickup speed after

Developer

when there aren’t any, you take the hit and form another 3 match by yourself ehehehe.

As for the timer, yeah. I can’t gauge a proper difficulty bc I’m just numb at it at that point of the development process.

The game looks and feels amazing. The art, sound, music, and of course particles just fit together so well and make the game feel great to play. However, I have to agree with others that it's a bit confusing. Sometimes it seemed that I would make one match of three and then immediately lose. I may mess around with it more and see if I can figure it a bit better after I get through rating some others because I really think this seems quite cool!

Developer(+1)

I’ll admit, the difficulty scaling was a big oversight. There are some cases where you don’t have a match at the start so the only path left is losing. I’ll try to implement some safenet at the start of the game after the jam.

That's understandable; it's the nature of a game jam. I'll for sure be checking back in after rating closes to check out your changes!

the game looks great it is very smooth looking and it feels smooth too but I have no idea what am I supposed to do it may be because I am dump or misunderstood the discretion but if I understand it correctly it is way to hard so please try to add a more simple explanation on what am I supposed to do another thing the game would benefit from a web port if there is some functionality that would not work just remove it for the web port

please respond to my comment when you fix this issue so I can try the game again and give a better rating

Developer

Hello. I’ll only modify the game after the jam as that would be against the jam rules I think. The current game version submitted is the one that is being rated so it’s ok to rate it upfront without giving a chance to modify the game entries. With that being said, I’ll try to put on tutorials in the form of graphic hints after the jam if I have the time.
