Let's go! Anyone else doing this jam? What's your project?

Hi all!  Figured I would get this party started.

I'm planning an RPGMV game, leaning to making an educational activity about red pandas.  I haven't really finished the planning phase, that comes later today.  I might lean more to fantasy with combat or something more to do to keep the player engaged.

Anyone else shooting for this jam?  Red pandas are rather adorable and it seems tricky to capture that in a video game.  From my research, they mostly eat and lie/sleep around.  So keeping the player engaged beyond the "OMG cute" reaction is going to be the main challenge I think.

If you search for cc0 red panda there are plenty of photo resources to get started.  Sadly, the only sprites I could find are from a mod, so not open for use.  I've recolored a raccoon from time fantasy animals since that's what I have to work with.  I'd love to see some more graphic resources around.

Also, do they make any sounds?  I have not had luck finding anything on red panda sounds/cry/growl/ect.  What does a red panda sound like?

Hello there!  Me and my partner entered into this jam and we're planning on making a platformer.

As for what sound a Red Panda makes, they are often very quiet!  When they do make a sound, it is similar to a chirp.  You can hear it in this video of two cubs rough-housing:

Aww, that is an adorable sound and an adorable reference video!  Thanks!

I scoped way too far (as usual for me) and now need to really focus on making "a something" that can go up on itch, lol!  Not sure if I'll even get to sound/music at this rate.  I vastly underestimated how much writing/eventing I needed to do in RPG Maker to make the original idea happen.  Guess we will all see how far I get soon enough. ;)

Best of luck to you and your partner!  A platformer sounds like a great idea, with the climbing abilities and all! :)

BARELY MADE IT! I'M TIRED!

congrats to everyone else who participated. I'm super bummed that we didn't have time to do any music or sound effects. Maybe next time :)
