Quite well executed - congrats!
I would suggest you to add a "cooldown" for when you have cactuses, as well as a limit for how many you could "spawn" together, in order to make the game just a tad more fair :)

I added the limit of how close the cactuses could spawn. I'll upload the new version after the jam finishes
This game is surprisingly tough! Would be a perfect opportunity for some cool parallax effects that the Genesis excelled at
