Interesting blend of reality and roleplay, replicating the process of building trust and taming a horse. I thought the inclusion of braid as a core game feature was really creative and in theme.
I want to give this game 6 stars, because not only is it a well-written, interesting game, but it's also educational. As someone who had ridden already trained horses a few times (a long time ago, in the days before the internet), I never knew what went into breaking and training a horse.
Using techniques from actual horse trainers, this game lays out exactly what steps are needed and what equipment it takes to go from catching a wild horse to (hopefully) making them your partner.
The game mechanics are very simple, only requiring one six-sided die. The rest is between the horse and the rider to figure out the world and how the two of them fit in it. With each step, there are suggestions given as to what actions the rider might take and how the how might react to them, so there are built in guideline that can be a stepping stone into more actions and reactions as the game progresses.
There's also a handy glossary at the end to give both players a better understanding of what is being talked about in the game.
This game is definitely worth picking up if you want a two-player game about actions and reactions and becoming partners.
