Amazing design for this faction, taking the Crows mechanic of hidden tokens to guess, but implementing it in a way that fixes their shortcomings!
Woah, fascinating! The gamble ideas, with winning streak and all in, feel really exciting. The sinister theming is ace too
This is a really neat and creative faction. I only have one question: is there any way to remove tokens from the All In pile? Or once they're there, are they stuck there for good?
Nope, they're stuck there.
Even worse: when the Koalas lose a bet, all tokens in the All In stack are removed from the game permanently
So it's very much an all in, you permanently lose a token and hope that the action and the points make up for it
That makes sense. We tried it and found this faction very fun! Our only gripe was about Double Down...it felt very powerful for your opponent to get double the points. We found that most of the time when attacking a bet, the opponent would automatically go double down for the extra points, even if they thought they would lose the bet. However, getting double points AS the Koalas, and getting double cards as the attacker, was quite fun.
Right off the bat, love the aesthetic of this faction. This faction stands out from the crowd on looks alone. I love the gambling vibe of this faction and how they have a burst-or-bust system, especially with the double-down mechanic.
Wow this seems like SUCH a fun faction to play as and against, and I love the artwork and components you've made for it as well!
Just one question, on the punitive mechanism it mentions non-spade bets, but I'm not seeing the spade bets mentioned elsewhere, is this supposed to be "clubs" or am I missing something?
Thank you, love the submission and want to see them played with really badly!
Wups I mixed up spades and clubs
For me, the most creative and fresh of this year's entries! And with such a strong competition, it's something!
A clever design, reminiscent of how the corvids have a "guessing game" that other players have to opt in to, the Koalas have a betting game that they force other players to play. Great use of the theme.
