I finally got to play this! It was a delight the whole way through, the sheer amount of NPCs to talk to and objects to inspect gave the game such a lively feeling, it was super immersive. The character designs are great (if I had to pick a favorite, maybe Oliver, that pic of him smiling with a big toothy grin is just too freaking cute man), just overall really nice game. I wish the battles had a little bit more to them but that's honestly more of a nitpick than anything. Great work!
Thank you for playing!! (I'm sorry for the late response!) I'm happy that you enjoyed interacting with all the different objects and NPCs! Writing up text for them was a fun experience, and felt like a good way to add more overall flavor to the school. The ones involving conversations between Stella and her friends were my personal favorites to write!
Knowing that you liked the character designs also means a lot to me! Designing characters is something I love doing, and to go with Hodgepodge High's setting, I tried to make the cast feel varied yet fit well together. Drawing all of their facial expressions was one of my favorite parts of working on the graphics, too. (I'm glad Oliver's big smile won you over! If I ever make more Hodgepodge-related content someday, I want to give both him and the rival characters more screen time!)
For the battles, I do regret not having polished them more before the deadline. In terms of both balance and making more unique mechanics, it's definitely something I'm keeping in mind for future stuff I work on.
Anyway, thank you for the kind words! I'm grateful that you had a good time with my game, hearing that makes me happiest of all!
After having played this, I feel like I owe you at least a buck. At least. This was the most soulful hour of my past month. I have no idea how you managed to put this together in the just-under-a-month span with the sheer density of creator-spirit and care.
Thanks man, makes my day to hear that you enjoyed it so much! I had to really buckle down towards the last week to wrap things up, and there's a few things I couldn't do before the deadline, (more npcs in emptier areas, better battle balance, and a whole bonus boss) but I tried to put my heart into it the whole way through.
