fun little game, at first I was a bit confused as i suddenly went game-over, but this was before i realized you could click the castle and see your resources. Also the AI enemy doesn't seem to send it's units towards me
Choosing a project like this with small scope was very wise. The game knows exactly what it wants to be and executes on that very well. Mechanically I figured everything out pretty quickly so kudos for keeping the UI simple enough to pick up with no instructions.
Some minor feedback on the playability of the game now:
1. Your resources should be visible at the top of the screen ALWAYS. Having to click on a main tower to check my stats was more tedious than it was "a fun part of the mechanics".
2. Can I destroy buildings? If I box myself in with farms is it game over?
3. During combat, I couldn't tell what my health was when clicking my units. Was just throwing everything I had at the enemy and hoping for the best.
Thank you for remarks! These things will be added soon.
Fantastic entry, I have so many things I liked about it :D
The graphics are pixel art and you've chosen a lovely palette, all the sprites were clearly distinguishable.
The game was really easy to learn by doing by only requiring a mouse click on any square to see details, choose building, see resources etc.
I am definitely going to be exploring this game further, I got to the enemy with a reasonable force but they got mad and mobbed my buildings, fun!
Very retro gameplay, it could have been one of the first RTSes for sure :)
And my favourite part was the original idea to have play take place on a grid with strict collision. So many interesting decisions to make due to that.
I hope to see further development on this concept for sure :)
Wow this a really classic RTS, I love it. Would be nice to have a small tutorial or description on how to play. But I figured it out pretty quick and it felt good!
Thank you Ruben! This is the first playable version. I am planning to pimp it up a little bit.
I can't wait! It looks great and plays great already!
