Congrats on finishing your first game, I hope it was a fun experience! Lots of horror tricks to get a scare here, including slow paces, winding corridors, flashbacks and distortion and dithering effects on the visual presentation. The different environments add a bit of progression to the game too. Love the silhouette guy!
Thanks for submitting Prolepsis to the jam!
Obviously very short, regardless still a neat experience.
It would have been nice to have seen a little more gameplay. I assume you had more planned but ran out of time (goes for just about everyone during a jam, myself included, lol). The art direction is cool, and walking feels nice. The different environments have a proper retro look; the lack of stuff in the outside environment didn't bother me, it felt correct for this style of "retro-horror" to be honest.
In the first section before the cutscene with the man walking around the corner, I just got stuck in place and looked around for a couple seconds before the cutscene actually triggered.
Audio is fairly decent, the apartment footsteps were a bit scuffed but the rest was nice. The main menu was cool too. Movement felt nice, no complains there. Cool retro style having the fade to black when passing through a door. The glitches to the dream place were also well done.
Cool submission.
I'd be interested in what you'd make given more time. There's a Game Off jam hosted by GitHub coming up for the entire month of November. 4x time.
Thanks for the kind words bro! for our game it was definitely a time thing, all of us had to balance school and studying exams with game dev :p in the end we spent just under 24 hours total on the game and had to cut a lot of stuff out. As for Game Off we're still on the fence on whether to join or not, finals are coming up next month. But we'd be honored to have our second game be made for another game jam !!!
that one scene near the end got me
