I really like what you're able to do with UI, and things like the points appearing when interacting with the different objects are a great touch.
Nice to finally experience Pandemia -- at least in game form! -- and good to see it will be developed alongside Quietus.
I'd intended to have a more expanded menu UI, but it broke. I really wish I'd have had more time to invest to finish it, hence why development will continue after the jam. And I'll iron out all of its bugs.
I liked the humor, it was my favorite part. It's a very calm and serene game, which I have a suspicion was intentional by the storyline's tone. I ran around and checked everything.
I know it's a game jam, nobody had a lot of time, but, think if the developer put more time into the game it would have more playtime and more features/mechanics.
It's definitely going in an interesting direction and I'm curious to see more content added!
(The storyline and mechanics of the game especially.)
Thanks for your comment. The humour is meant to be sardonic, but don't be deceived by its "calm and serene" demeanour. The system/mechanics will, of course, be expanded and improved (though I have no idea how to go about that yet), as will the menu. The storyline is already mapped out. Chapter 1 will probably be out July or August.
PROS:
That intro somehow hit me. I know it's just text, but what a starting narrative! I really liked the assets you made here for this project. It made for a very convincing home layout. The humor, while dark, is what I enjoy in my games. I'm usually a stickler for lack of music but somehow, the quietness gave it a more "real" feel. I felt like I was really in that house and enjoyed walking around and trying to find all the points. I'm looking forward to your next chapter!
CONS:
I'm going to have to get nitpicky here since this game was made by a "ProVet". A fault of SGB perhaps but the laggy sound effect when you enter a room was noted. I felt that 3D view made all that hard work in your environment come alive. Having the isometric view as the default takes away the element of immersion, especially since we are confined to a single house (At least in this demo). There were some objects that you could kind of walk through. Not sure if that could be fixed with eventing or just a limitation of SGB's importing of external assets. Lastly, there was no way to return to the title screen after the ending. Just watching confetti rain down and controlling an invisible character on an empty map. Sorry for digging into the bottom of the barrel here but otherwise, this game truly shows your ProVetional talents!
Thank you for your thoughts. Regarding the cons, you're absolutely right. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to dig deep, so to speak. If you think the sound lag (I'm presuming the doors) was bad, you should have seen the TV turning on with some newscaster blurbing. I had to remove it! ROFL
I wanted to do camera angles, similar to those with the pictures, for doors notably but other objects too. Just couldn't get them right within my time slot. I do appreciate you taking the time to write the review, even nitpicking. It'll help improve things and I'll address them in the next update before Chapter 1.
This was great! Appreciate the dev notes for what's not done, as it helped me not spend a bunch of time trying to do things I couldn't. I like the gameplay as well, excited to see where this one goes.
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you found the dev notes useful, though to be honest they were initially just for me. I decided to keep them in. The story itself will unfold over the course of a year or two, hopefully with multiple endings (questionable at the moment). I do have a few surprises planned for this game too.
