Working on my submission for Songs & Saga's Game Jam: It's called The Standing Dead, and it tries its hand at hard(ish), heavy on the -ish, science-fiction roleplaying game.   Working to develop starship mechanics, space combat, cool tech and post-human intelligence, and some sandbox tools.

More teasing...

This is The Standing Dead, a hard science-fiction roleplaying game set in the near future, focused on exploring beyond the veil of human-controlled space.

In the near future, the stars appear to be ours for the taking. Amidst the new stars, planets, moons, and asteroids our species now calls home, humanity is changing, becoming something infinitely more alien than those who left Earth and its star, Sol, behind.

As humanity spreads out into the larger universe, we are confronted by a graveyard’s silence: There are no other sophonts like us. Only lifeless ruins, abandoned constructs, and eerily silent graveyards and fossils.

This hasn’t stopped our insatiable need to know more, to see if we’re truly alone in this vast, indifferent universe.

You work under the authority of the Expeditionary Command Council (ECC), a decentralized and highly disciplined organization founded on the fringes of human space. Human expeditionaries push just beyond the veil of human space, traveling at relativistic speeds, hoping to answer those questions we all have and to find new homes and new opportunities for humanity.

Your reasons for being an expeditionary are your own. You must trust your teammates, your ship, and yourself to survive the harsh, indifferent universe around you.

Survival is not guaranteed.

Act accordingly.
