I absolutely love the art & character design in this! It feels like something between a storybook and an old photograph - perfect for the vibe of the story!! Gorgeous backgrounds (especially in the manor house!). The sheer number of CGs was super impressive, and the deep black framing really added to the eerie vibes as things went on (that waiver-signing... creepy!). The characters' dynamics felt strong too, and the way Emily's past naturally came up along the way felt smoothly done. Very effectively spooky sound design too, especially as the night progresses...
One note would be that the font doesn't seem to render hyphens and apostrophes properly, which leads to some blank spaces here and there. I also got a crash after turning down the cake twice and then heading for bed (image of the error code below, if that's helpful!).
Apart from that, wonderful job!! Huge congrats!!!!
Crying my eyes out, thank you so much for playing and such a detailed comment omg!!! I'm so happy you liked it, now i'm so pumped up to make this a real game, and thank you so much for the notes, i'm totally going to work on implementing all the changes for the first demo! (funny mention, the waver signing was inspired by the real event, and let me tell you...that whole paper was so cursed!) So i'm really glad to hear that the creepy/spooky vibes went over well!
Also, thank you so much for the screenshot, i'm still so confused how i missed it, but thanks to you i managed to fix it <3!!
i really really really like the designs of the characters. They're sort of a level of just detailed enough to be cute but realistic enough to empathize with.
Thank you so much for playing! Omg im so happy you liked the designs, i was thinking i should have gone fully realistic but hearing this makes so much sense! Totally gonna keep that element in further dev
a really fun and creepy story! The art style is really unique and fitting, the scribbly line art of the backgrounds is really cool. my only critique would be that the buildup dialogue in the car scene is a little long, but the rest of the game's pacing was really well done. great work!!
Thank you so much!!! And for the critique, im thinking of continuing dev on this so i need all of it i can get! (So happy you liked the art too<3)
