  • The steal & capture mechanics feel like they were made for this jam, so very well spotted. However, I wish you had pushed the mechanics a little more. Weapons in this short game have very generous durability, making acquiring them through capture not very interesting. This is only compounded by how few of your units can actually use them. This could very well have been solved by having lower durability limits. This is just one direction in which these mechanics could have been ever so slightly pushed further.
  • It's a bit on the short side, but of all the entries I've played, this one is the most enjoyable for me to play. Playable units and enemies are all balanced fairly well, with none of them being overcentralizing or useless. Stealing is fun. Checking bones is fun. Fending off huge waves of horse reinforcements is fun because it's a fair challenge. Gameplay-wise, if there's anything that could be improved, it's adding more difficulty modes. The game in its current form would form the basis of a good "normal" difficulty. Aside from gameplay, there are obvious improvements to be made: fixing the grammar, adding in original graphics, adding in original music, utilizing some plugins for QoL improvements, etc.
  • Strong sense of humor carries this one, at least as much as it can be carried. I did smile and even chuckle a few times. Steal and capture are fun in a vacuum and well-suited to this jam's theme but they don't mesh with the design of this particular level. Vanilla music, aesthetics and gameplay are inoffensive but do not impress.
  • I really liked the writing and the effort of explaining the mechanics of the game. Veget is very cute. Overall a fun jam project, I approve of it. Keep up the good work.
  • It was easy, but I don't think that's a bad thing for a short jam like this. I particularly liked the variety of monster implementation on display and I'm always a fan of taking down an arrogant 'hero.'
  • Purlieu of Potency plays it safe by not trying to innovate outside of the realm of the basics of SRPG Studio. The game gives a map with reserve setting, we are the monsters, literally. And we have to defend the forest from the invasion of the murderous humans. With a funny dialog and no lack of jokes, the game doesn't take itself too seriously and gives an engaging, if somewhat linear map, that is clearly broken into 3 acts by each of the bosses. The strong points of the entry are good map flow and the funny dialog, all the rest is RTP, so there is no much to talk about regarding graphics, music or SFX, apart from they were fitting, and the title screen was custom for the project, which is not much... but a lot of people forget to change it when rushing. Sadly, the game is not without bugs, the resurrection item doesn't work... so I failed into the trap of playing too aggressive and then couldn't revive my units. The poison staff/Orb poisons the player instead of the enemies, which makes it a bit useless. Regarding the themes, they are used lightly, the idea of the main character forgetting his weapons was nice... but it didn't matter much as you get a weapon on the first "treasure" tile that is on the main character move range on the first turn... so being weaponless is really short lived sadly. Since all your units are monsters, clearly their weapons are unusual by human standards. The use of capture play into getting weapons from the enemies, but they didn't really have weapons that worthy of looting compared to the what you could get or buy. But stealing stat boosters was a fun challenge. Overall, I enjoyed my time with it, it was short, simple but fun and gave a good laugh or two.

Jam Judge(+1)

I recruited Circe and Dankboi didn't. I want to take this moment to declare my superiority over him.

Pretty good, pretty good, I like it
It starts to fall apart near the end, with a bunch of broken mechanics (the poison staff that only targets your own units :skull:) And I could've sworn Circe would be recruitable but capturing her does nothing
It seemed like there were going to be reinforcements from the northwest but nothing happened, and then the boss took me 21 turns

Other than that though very enjoyable

Thanks for the review. And for notifying me on the things I need to fix-

Also, Circe is recruitable, you just need to speak to her, or defeat her. I still haven't figured out how to  do capture recruitments in SRPG Studio.
I also thought those reinforcements would show up woops-
