Heh, this is definitely like 98% of MUCKs today too. Mostly deserted, only one or two interesting people online who are stuck in their endless clique, and one person who's really neat and then you do something and then they disconnect because it's bedtime.
This brings back memories I don't actually have — I was never into TAPS etc., but I did fool around on a friend's platonic MUSH for a while, so I'm familiar with the aesthetic. Just a shame no one was logged in on the worlds that sounded most interesting :)
I'm finding the story both charming at face value and also fun in how I get to play connect-the-dots from story to 2003 MUCKs. Good job. :)
I love it, but I want so much more. The premise is silly, but sooo cool to the point where I was blasting hotline miami music for that retro feel, the cyber world is something that I want to see more of with all these crazy and various people on this MUCK that you made seem so very real. All in all, I want more and that isn't necessarily a bad thing, just means it was a tease.
