How do you approach it usually?

So far this is the second time for me that I joined a game jam. In my first attempt at trying out a game jam  just a week ago the time was very limited and and I had the game in my mind pretty much when I read the game jam's title, so I just death marshed the whole thing through in the few days till the end.

Here however I feel I got stuck with taking notes, collecting reference images, reading through naming websites and doing just anything other than actually starting to work on it.

Sometimes the best way to start is just to open the program and design a few maps. I've found that it helps me figure out the kind of game world I want to create.

I think I reached a point where I've driven the whole thing against a wall.
