I really enjoyed everything about the game, from visuals to gameplay and sound.
The fact that the rocks were moving in a really unexpected way, made it a difficult experience, BUT at one point, the rocks just stoped apearing in my screen, and from time to time, 1 or 2 would aprear, and this made it really easy to beat your "1000 points" score.
Overall great game, Well done!
Love the sound effects and the death screen - they gave me a good laugh, it's a fun game to play and it was rather difficult but after a couple attempts I ended up just using what I'm going to assume is the method Charlie Smith mentions in his feedback below.
Firstly, make sure that your Student Number is correct. I'm 99% sure that it isn't 33516!
This is a very polished product, with sound, visuals, and menus. It is very clear to me that a lot of work has gone into making this fun rather than just making a mechanic work. The 'pew' definitely threw me off guard and gave me a good chuckle which is always a nice thing!
However, there are a few issues with this product that I think might spoil an otherwise fantastic little game. The first is that it is excruciatingly difficult if you play it properly, with a heavy amount of luck need to survive past 6-8 seconds, something that you have clearly noted in the game. Secondly, there is a dominant strategy which you may have overlooked which I found after 3 tries which allowed me to consistently beat your high score (Which I will mention once reviews have closed, unless you are ok with me explaining it here). Finally, is this really a Single Control hyper casual game?
Don't misunderstand, this is a strong entry and I am impressed with the quality of a game that was made in ~5-6 days. But some internal playtesting and attention to the brief was definitely needed.
should have corrected the student Number I missed a 9. I know its not a single control but the game would be impossible and to elaborate I followed a tutorial as I haven't used Gamemaker before. thx for the comment
That is entirely fair that this is largely inspired from a tutorial, however all you'd need to do is find an alternative method of control. There are a lot of top down shooter games where the controlled character looks towards a mouse cursor which when clicked would fire at the cursor. That being said, it's your first experience diving headfirst into making games, so its totally fine.
