Neat game! I included it in part 2 of my Public Domain Jam 2 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :) https://youtu.be/Zm3F461UAZo
I found it really interesting. A trifle too easy to be really fun, but I definitely liked playing it.
I did have to write down on a piece of paper what the three colours meant. So, yeah my main issues are on UI, but I enjoyed the game once I could remember everything.
This is a very creative and well-implemented idea. The idea that you use cards to present an acceptable story to the king is well done, but, personally, I haven't died once. I suppose you balanced the random element of the cards with the king's favor, as I could randomly get cards opposite to what the king wanted, but it's surprisingly easy to stay alive. Maybe if there were three times you could tell an "acceptable" story before you were offed? Or if there was a meter that depended on how much the king liked the story, decreasing if he found it "acceptable" and increasing when he found it "fantastic". And if the meter reached the bottom . . .
Ah well, I still really like this. Are the cards references to the stories of One Thousand and One Nights? Anyway, looking forward to your next games! This was a unique entry!
(btw, I'm also in this game jam! My game is HummingBird Haunting. Check it out? I'd love to hear feedback from you: norbez.itch.io/hummingbird-haunting)
