Some of you might be new to a game jam, and some of you might be old hat at this. Regardless, welcome!

This thread is for resources for people who might need some guidance, assets, or encouragement. Post 'em in here! For starters:

http://www.sortingh.at/ - general "I want to make [genre] game, how do I do the thing?" advice. Lots of tips for engines, assets, etc.
https://web.archive.org/web/20190329004305/http://www.pixelprospector.com/ Pixel Prospector is a large general catch all for guides and assets. It's currently being redesigned, but you can find the archive at this address.
https://freemusicarchive.org/ - name on the tin, provides free music. check for attributions/CC licenses!
https://freesound.org/ - free sound effects. last i checked, you needed an account to download, but it should be free.

https://globalgamejam.org/jammer-resources - Collected by Global Game Jam; a useful list of resources!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qQf5zjvJHEB40xYhTiFo9GzNYUBt8iAw8vzPu2Oy354/... - direct link to a MASSIVE list of resources & assets, compiled by GGJ
https://gamedevelopment.tutsplus.com/articles/how-to-get-the-most-out-of-a-game-... - explains what a game jam is, why to participate in one, and gives lots of good advice for making it through!

A great video from Extra Credits that you might find pertinent to this week! Additionally, they have a playlist of tips on creating your first game here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhyKYa0YJ_5C6QC36h5eApOyXtx98ehGi

This is just a starting point - there's so much more out there! Post anything that might help your fellow cafe jammers in this thread! :)
