How did you choose to implement the Theme: Haunting Melody in your game?
The main soundtrack
Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
Currently still working on it but want to do 3. Sound of Music with ramping tension.

I like the story and setting. Funny and creepy in the same way =)
I love the creepy retro vibe. The weird artstyle is very unseateling. However, as some people have pointed already, the gameplay is a bit lacking
Thanks for playing it’s weird the more confident I get that I can make a game and put all those elements together.
The more I find myself shaking my head and wondering if it fun and how to make my games fun.
Interesting learnings I still feel I am a novice so I forgive myself when I fail to measure up. I always share where I got to proudly rather than rage quit as the feedback of peers I have found priceless.
Have a merry Christmas mate Christmas 🎄
The buff Santa prototypes I couldn't quite make happen.
The game seemed to be incomplete at this point. The intro was great, so is the artstyle and the music, but when it comes to the actual gameplay, there are problems.
For one, there seem to be "enemies" wandering around, but they don't actually do anything. You can't even hit them with the snowballs. The only thing you can hit with the snowballs are these "elf scarecrows" that are all over the place. The only way to lose health seems to be fall damage, but I only found one place where the fall is long enough for that to happen.
You can find a key that allows you to open a bunch of doors and when you destroy all the "elf scarecrows" in the building, the friendly elf from the beginning turns angry and moves to an unlocked door. Otherwise, nothing happens. There is one more locked door that leads to a room in the basement, but there doesn't seem to be a way to access it. Well, there's a toy helicopter in the room with the locked basement door and you can interact with it so that it hovers in the air for a few moments, but there doesn't seem to be a point to it? Anyway, if there's an ending to this game, I can't reach it.
Aside from that, the base mechanics seem to be pretty clunky, like you get stuck on a bunch of things that seem to have way too large of a collision box and throwing a snowball takes a really long time during which time you are locked in place and can't do anything. If the enemies actually did anything, that would be very annoying. Also, while you are climbing, if you press the Throw Snowball button, you get stuck in the same place for the duration of the Throw Snowball animation. But there's no animation, just the starting pose and you don't actually throw a snowball.
But I actually enjoyed playing it, for what's it worth. And the visuals and music are great, it just needs a lot of polish when it comes to the gameplay. If you want to work on this further and finish it, you can start right now. You can update your games at any time.
Thanks for the feedback I did hope to get a little further and had to hustle to put certain challenges (scare crows) in place to as you said create some small semblance of game play.
It was my first time trying rigged 2D so a lot of my time was spent experimenting with that. I did want it to be the elves were your friends and so you wouldn’t snow ball them - until you steal Santa sack and they go evil. So that may kind of explain there non reaction to balls (if I made it a little further I would have had buttons instead of scarecrow you could only trigger by throwing as a feature for progression).
Again thanks for the feedback and taking the time to play. I really like the jam and I know this was low brow horror next time I will bring the gore 😈
merry Xmas to all the Horror Game Jam family!
No problem, merry Christmas to you too and I hope you join the next Themed Horror Game Jam too!
It was strange at first but is actually fun to play! It's good christmas game somehow!
Thanks I wish I had longer so I could have got some of my bigger concepts in still pretty proud.
Thanks for the kind words and feedback 😀
Merry Christmas
The melody is indeed pretty haunting here. I like how the game feels overall, most enjoyable bad dream I had in a while. Also buff and unhinged santa gives me a chuckle every time.
if I achieved my full scope no dummies would have no dummies and once you worked through the house and stole Santas sack a roof raging Santa chasing back through the house.
thanks for giving my game a play and your feedback 😀
have a merry Christmas 🎄
The same to you! Merry christmas!
Fidel Delgado created the excellent music for this. It was made in segments so we could build tension live as you play sadly I didn’t get to the Santa chase that aspect was planned for and had to try and bits of it in a different way - think I did ok considering.
Did you play on Gore-Zella mode and see the extra intro bits and the change to the bottom left room? It’s not much but I was going to add a candy cane weapon you could sharpen and blood etc the gore mode would effect.
thanks again for taking the time to play and comment.
Have a merry Christmas 🎅 or else buff Santa will come for you 💪👈
Still working on please hold off proper playthrough till close of submissions but feel free to have a look.
