Cool game mechanic, and I really like the sound design overall and feedback/integration for the Z mechanic. Even with the simple graphics it makes the game feel really nice.
One thing I had some trouble with was simply getting past the start menu screen. The game loaded and showed the menu, but it wasn't apparent to me how to proceed. I tried clicking and pressing enter etc with no effect, so I gave up the first time and tried it in another browser thinking it was broken. Only there I accidentally found out up/down changed the selection and understood I probably had to press some other key to start, eventually finding the right one. So maybe you could give the player a hint about that?
Very useful, thanks! It's occurred to me now that most menu screens for PC games will use both cursor and keyboard, so I'll add that to my next version.
- Your jump button seems to be mapped to both on down and on release. You want either one of the two (right now clicking W once jumps twice)
- Usually you'd want jump in a platformer to be separate from WASD (so something like c or space would do). This might be my personal preference, though.
Great nitpicks! Having jump on both down and release was my hacky way of letting players jump if they press the key just before they hit the ground. I'll set that up properly in my next version.
I've had a few suggestions to improve the control scheme so I'll keep asking around and see what the consensus is. 😃

Nicely done! The Thomas Was Alone aesthetic was well executed, and there was definitely a relationship created between the green and orange blocks.
The jumping controls were just a little awkward, but otherwise the gameplay felt pretty smooth. Great job!
Space bar to jump it is!
I also wasn't made aware of Thomas Was Alone until after I made this, but I totally see the comparison. I definitely need to play.

This is the coolest game I've seen in a while :>
