Octopus city

Correlation to theme
It's very city like, I thought of a pretty dirty city where Octopuses are living underwater. So Jazz (kinda)!
Also I put a bit of "watery" sounds effect here and there.

99 Octo Road: Wow this screams city feel to me! The bouncy bass and jazzy runs reminded me a lot of the De Blob soundtrack once you start adding color back to the cities. The fluttering reverby instrument playing in the background gives me the clearest indicator that your city is underwater. My favorite moment in this entire piece is the walk up to what I think is the #4 at around the 0:15 mark just before going into the main melody. This part makes me think (very fondly I might add) of the N64 Mario Kart track themes and adds a sense of excitement of energy to the piece, thereby setting up a city theme very nicely.

Did I imagine the town?: I certainly imagined a bustling city underwater full of life and energy! I wonder if there were any intentional touches that were meant to give a specific “octopus” idea? Even so, the octopi living here would certainly be strutting to the beat of this song if they lived here! Overall fantastic piece of music. Thanks for sharing!

The stank face is inevitable while listening to it! Absolutely loved it! Could see/hear this in like a underwater level in a video game.

Yuzo Koshiro ! (the composer of Streets of Rage)

It really sound like a Streets of Rage stage for me. I love it ! It grooves, the bass line is awesome.

On the other hand, I didn't manage to imagine the city. It's maybe too catchy to be a city music.

Nice track! I like the groove of it.

The repeating bassline reminds me a lot of the Water Temple theme from Ocarina of Time.

As a whole, the track makes me imagine a sort of 80s inspired, grimy city. I am envisioning, like, a noir detective story occurring in the city, with an octopus detective. Will he catch the baddie? Remain seated to find out!

At any rate, a catchy track!

P.S. I've always wanted to make a track with a bass-line similar to the bit starting at 00:16 with the slap bass. However, I've always struggled with it. Perhaps I should give it another go.

Nice song! I personally have a really hard time making a jazzy song that is still cohesive and not just a blurt of random spurts. You did a great job! Though the 'slides' downward at e.g. 0:48 kinda hurt my ears, presumably given the dissonance with the melody, most of the song was catchy and great to listen to. I heard the watery effects (especially the first sound of the song - that one sounds quite watery and repeats throughout, very nice) and could imagine this being played underwater, though it would likely not be my initial guess. Overal, very nice, consider me impressed!
