I jumped over a lot of spikes before realizing the twist

Oh boy! I love games!

Unfortunately, I think this is a time where using a twist actually HURTS the gameplay experience.  It mostly means the background gets slightly more complicated and you don't need to program in a death state. Otherwise, the game just becomes "Move to the right". The lack of interesting visuals or audio made the game not feel fun. Credit for being nice to the player, but you ended up hurting your own game. Sorry :(

Is the twist that the spikes don't actually hurt you? If so, good job! That's a fun way to subvert player expectations.

Really great idea, but unfortunatelly the spikes don't do anything, and the whole game misses some sounds and/or music
