That was fun to watch. I lost :(
I'm glad you had fun and I'm sorry you lost.
Oh heck yeah, rock paper scissors tournament! I'm curious how you made them chase each other, because it looks more like a fluid or lava lamp than the usual rock-paper-scissors videos I see.
Thanks for playing!
The movement has three components:
1. Each warrior has some random jiggle movement.
2. The game keeps track of the center point of all rock-, paper- and scissor-warriors. Each warrior steers away from the center point of their respective predator and towards their prey.
3. Each warrior keeps track of the warriors around them in a small radius. They again calculate the center point of prey and predator and steer towards/away from these points as well.
This individual behaviour is also most likely the reason for the poor performance.
Cool idea! Pretty fun to watch all the little guys go to battle and see the big swings.
Thanks for playing!
Yeah, I'm pretty happy that big turnarounds and clutch saves happen pretty regularly.
The game does fit the theme if you look at the sliding scale of how many of each warrior type are alive. An interesting simulation for sure. Some music would have been a nice addition to the game in the background. I can understand why no sound effects for units converting were added as that would be audible chaos.
Thank you for playing my game and the feedback.
I thought about music as well but decided against it, because of time constraints (not of the jam, I had an hour left on the clock, but personal time constraints).
I did it :)
Congrats 🎉
