I think this is a really cool theme, so let's see what you can come up with!
A curiosity about one of the challenges - does "monochrome" color scheme really mean two colors, or is it fine to have shades of lightness (e.g. multiple grays from black to white) as long as the hue and saturation are the same?
It's fine to have shades :)
