Any ideas?

(1 edit)

If you made this jam so that every game engine is allowed, a lot more people would join. I'd love to join this jam but my engine is not allowed

What do you mean? Every game engine is allowed, of course! We only ask that you would provide a Linux or browser build so we could be sure we can playtest the game. And even then we try to run Windows games. Most of the time they work, but sometimes they don't run through Wine.

Come on you are kidding right? Have you even read this jam's description?

This week:

  1. Use Godot Engine; <----- This one here
  2. EMake a game about animals;
  3. Use memes as artwork for the game;
  4. Make turn-based mechanics;
  5. Add an Easter egg (known movie or a game).
  6. Share the source code of your project.

Sorry for the confusion, I hope that you will take the challenge and make something anyway! This jam is supposed to be laid back and for you, that is why we don't have too many rules and restrictions. You're also free to go over the 3 hours if it's necessary (but then you don't compete for winning). You can submit a 3 hour version and keep working on the game and submit an improved version. You can make several projects. It's all about you having fun, improving and experimenting. :)

I'll definitely try to win this jam! I want to be on that wall of fame as the winner of number 46!

Alright! That's the attitude! :D Good luck! :)

Also, keep in mind planning and publishing the build is not in those 3 hours, just the development ;)

Those are optional challenges, no need to complete those. I think the confusion comes from the space between the two sentences

Optional challenges

Optional challenges you can complete for boasting rights.

This week:

  1. Use Godot Engine;
  2. Enemies are not the bad guys;
  3. Use monochrome color scheme;
  4. Implement tripple jump;
  5. Add an Easter egg (known movie or a game).
  6. Share the source code of your project.

I was also briefly confused about the engine-usage. I think for me it was because the Godot Engine is a different color text and a link, so it hits the eye first. But after reading the whole thing it became slightly more clear. Ideas for jam-themes: Unliving friend or One step to death.

Thank you for the feedback!
