3 hours?

Had my first 3 day game jam last week. Was quite tight, but manageable.

But 3 hours? Sounds tough, but also fun. 馃槉

Keep in mind, the jam lasts the whole weekend, so you can plan out what you want to build and find a good time to execute - planning and submitting is not in the 3 hour challenge! :)

Thanks, that's good. 馃憤馃槉

So it's more about how fast and precise can I execute on my design/ideas. 馃槈

Ok, my estimated rough timeframe is:

  • Graphics (from Asset Jam) - 30 minutes
  • Music - 30 minutes
  • Sounds - 15 minutes
  • Menu - 15 minutes
  • Game(play) 90 minutes

It's about getting practice under time pressure! If you go over the 3 hour limit, it's fine, still submit your game! The real benefit is if you do it regularly - you'll get better at focusing, planning, execution and you'll have a bunch of prototypes you can then choose to develop further or take that experience to build something bigger! :)

Done. Got far less done, than I thought I could. :)

So my game has only one level, and is very barebone. It's also the 2nd game I did over the weekend, since I botched the first one totally. :D
