I like that you kept the game simple. And though it doesn't feel like a finished project, that is to be expected with game jam submissions. So I won't hold that against it.

The mechanic for dashing through enemies works pretty well. It makes the game more fun in that it's not just about avoiding enemies. I didn't figure it out before reading the comments, though.

For me, the difficulty went from being easy for a minute to suddenly being quite hard. Would have preferred a more gradual difficulty increase.

This was interesting!

The art is nice. I wish they were animated and maybe that the art represented the hitboxes of the enemies and your own a little better, but overall it's good.

The background is simple too, and would have liked it to be more varied and interesting, however it has a very important function, as it serves as a way to make progression more obvious and interesting, and that's awesome. I kept going on to see where i would go next.

Really needed to make those pixels crispy, as blurry pixelart is weird to see. Still works though!

In my first run i didn't use the dash mechanic, i just kept going on with things piling on my screen and thought the game was okay, though a bit unforgiving. Then i discovered the dashes!

They work in a weird way. I thought they may be used to evade the enemies, but though it can work to do that (you do go through the first enemy you touch) it actually gives you an speed boost, which clears the screen of most enemies and overall feels actually great! and a bit addicting, specially because how fast you progress while doing it.

I only disliked that while you are dashing (and already passed through the first enemy) if you hit a second one you lose, and you can't really avoid it. After a little bit you can move while dashing, but not for the first seconds.

Also, the dashing animation feels great. It really does! I love the squash and stretch the little soul goes through. Would have like it to become a bit thinner while stretching and a bit wider while squashing, to make it even more bouncy. Still, great! specially with all the camera sheananigans.

Keep it up! I kind of ragequit after some wonky hitboxes with a demon, but it's still great! hehe

My high score was 2176!

I was thinking there was only going to be one kind of enemy but then the background changed and i saw a demon/imp fly in!  Are there any more?  It would benefit from an indicator of your progress through each stage, like a bar on the left with an arrow or something.  It could also mark your highest point too, so you know how far off you are.  Some nice particle effects would be good to make it clear when you've successfully dashed through an enemy and when you have the speed boost active

Congrats! ^^
There are a total of 3 different enemies in the game. To find out what they are, you'll have to climb higher ;)   (or just check the other comments)

The game technically has no end, so an indicator did not cross my mind, but that would be an interesting idea. I had so many ideas of effects for that speed boost but deadline o'clock came too soon and that was all I could get in. Guess I'll just keep these ideas for next time.

I'm glad you liked it ^^

What's smoothing again?

Really fun and straightforward little game ! The thing is, eagles don't move relative to the player so you can spend the first half of the game just on the bottom on the screen and not moving.

But boy when the demons came out, and the UFOs, I wasn't ready xD

Really liked the little intro cinematic

Developer

Well, eagles don't really have any business with ghosts after all. Demons on the other end, wouldn't let you get away so easily. As for aliens... well your guess is as good as mine. ^^'

I like the game; it is bite-sized and addictive. It is a shame that the pixel graphics are blurry (there is a way to fix this in Unity), and the music is a little repetitive. I kept trying to reach a new score, and enjoyed playing this game.

Right, I completly forgot about it while I was working on the project! At least I won't forget next time :o

Glad you enjoyed the game, that's really the whole point of making them in my opinion ^^

That was actually the first time I did any music at all, and I had to rush it in 30 minutes, so that was to be expected... Still, that is kind of my greatest master piece to this day, but I fully intend to keep trying to make better music è.é
