  • This was a good puzzley game. I enjoyed that there were new things added as I went through the levels but struggled at times to tell which of the snowballs were larger. It reminded my of Icy Dungeon and I think with a bit of polish this could go down as one of the greats! I enjoyed the background music for this one, not all entries had that and this one was good.

Great music! Love a sokoban game! I did get stuck on a puzzle and no way to restart it, so that could be a nice feature. Medium and large balls look a bit similar, maybe add a shadow or something as they start to reach maximum size?

Feedback

  • Nice music, I wanted a bit more sfx :)
  • Also character animation could be nice
  • Learning curve a bit steep?
    • I think this is pretty typical for puzzle games at their early stage
  • There should probably be a Fail state, ex. only two balls remain
  • Level 1, how about a big level, so there is almost no failing possible? So it's a smoother beginning
  • Level 2 maybe start with how to do it, not how not to do it?
  • The fire is nice, but why have it melting even when it's out of range? It feels unintuitive and not immediately clear, players need to make an additional cognitive step to calculate this "invisible" step of still melting.
  • Having a range from the fire makes it easy to calculate, the mechanic is represented visually. But then what +1 after that or +2 isn't unclear. Makes it harder to plan out the moves.

This was a fun entry!  I'm honestly not very good at normal sokoban, but this had a fun twist on that ruleset.  I have only two main complaints that compounded on each other and led to me not finishing the game- first, is that it's really hard to compare snowball sizes.  If I'm looking at two static snowballs it's fine, but I had a lot of trouble with things like "If I push this snowball three spaces, will it be bigger than this other snowball?  Considering snowball size is such an important part of victory in this game, that really held me back from solving puzzles.  The other big issue I had was the lack of an undo system- and I get it.  It's kind of a daunting thing to add in a game jam game.  But between being unable to tell the exact size of each snowball and having to restart after every mistake, I found it hard to play more than a handful of puzzles.  Still I appreciated the twists I did see- the fire was a fun dual-purpose puzzle mechanic, and I think the puzzles were well designed.  I think this game has a lot of potential once some of the quality of life issues are fixed!

Thank you so much for playing! Honestly, you confirmed the two main concerns I had when submitting the game, but just couldn’t resolve because of the time constraints of the jam. If I decide to keep working on this, the undo system will definitely be the highest priority item, and a close second will be alternative indicators to better know exactly how big each snowball is and is going to be. Thank you so much for taking the time to play and leave feedback! I really appreciate it :)
