Very cool game! Despite the heavy use of assets, the game felt quite polished and also very cohesive. Controls feel unintuitive at first, but when you get the hang of it, it starts to get unexpectedly easy and very fun to move around.

A couple of suggestions if you plan on expanding the game (which I hope you'll do since the game has potential):

  1. Some objects don't have collisions enabled (you can go through them);
  2. Consider adding a "crash" mechanic if you fly towards an object, like a planet, and hit it.
  3. The "laser" mechanic of both the player's spaceship and the enemies spaceship needs some work/polish, for example make the laser have to charge up for some seconds and fade out with some nice effects when it deactivates (maybe you can find some free laser assets on the Unity asset store), plus better laser sounds would also be nice to have, to make the lasers feel more powerful.
  4. The menu showing the "tutorial" text shows an "X" icon on the upper right corner, but you can't ever close the popup, since the mouse disappears while you play, and there seem to be no keyboard key bind to close windows (maybe I'm missing something?).
  5. I'd suggest experimenting with different controls, for example a different way of steering your ship by using the mouse to point in the direction you want to move to.

Other than those small adjustments, the game was quite fun, hope you'll consider expanding it a bit more. Good job!

Thank you for your reply and for playing my game! Yea, this game surely heavily relied on assets from the Unity Asset story, but working alone is complicated! Ha, I am planning to improve this game, fixing the controls, improving and adding mechanics to the game and so on. Crash mechanic sounds cool, I will see how it goes. And yea, the laser is surely just a classic "pew-pew", didn't have too much time to make it more polished, so yea, will improve that too.
As for interacting with the UI buttons, you can press Left Alt to free the cursor and allow moving the mouse. Will probably change that and assign them to key buttons, or just add a tutorial explaining the controls.

And thanks again for playing! Glad you had fun, hope you’ll check out the game again after the updates! :D

Wow that was ambitious for only a weeks effort! I really like the design and was worried the controls would be tricky, but it was fun to play. Thank you so much for participating!

Thank you for playing my game! I am glad that it turned out to be fun, despite the confusing controls. It's my second game ever made, and especially under a week!

Okay, this is too much of a mess.
I was very confused with the cursor, and I ended up quitting the game because of it, I only found out how to do it on my third attempt, and when I played the game I didn't know what to do, I am flying around, with no objective and the wall of text at the start didn't help much. I managed to dock and done something, then I was attacked and died, but I can still move around at the game over screen.

a lot of stuff here that seems to be a very big idea but ended up with unfinished and rushed results, if I have to be honest to the people who worked on this project, for a jam that requires a game to be finished by 7 days, this one is very out of scope to accomplish in the timeframe, I'm sure this would have been better if given more time, but what we have is just a confusing mess with no sense of direction.

Thank you so much for trying to play my game and giving your opinion! I understood the issues you had, especially with the lack of a specific goal, aside from buying planets.  Making this game alone was already slightly a challenge, especially with a time limit. I did aim for something big, but I didn't really hit the mark in the limited time. After the jam, I will start improving the game slowly. Thanks for the feedback and for the fact you tried playing this mess!

As for the confusion with the cursor and its controls, what would you suggest doing? Because you seem like an experienced person in game development. In the game, there is a "How To Play" menu, which explains the controls, which is what I usually do.
Still, thanks again for playing my game and writing a review, it motivates me! :D
