so i had an issue where no matter what i did he wouldnt walk, he would play the animation of walking but wouldnt actually move. Looked cool tho!
That's because I have the jump functionality programmed, but I don't have it in use in the uploaded prototype. I have to polish it for the final version. Thanks a lot for playing it, and for hosting the jam.
I really like how the game looks, and the concept of saving kittens from a forest fire is a neat idea.
The camera is a bit frustrating to use, especially due to the inverted y-axis, as well as around edges of things. This problem is especially noticeable around trees where it becomes very hard to figure out where you are.
I noticed you can actually move faster diagonally, so ended up zigzagging around the forest clearing in search of the poor lost kittens. I liked to imagine the mother cat was extra panicked so couldn't run straight.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll probably change it in future versions to make it more cinematic so you don't have to worry about it.
I would like to tell you that the diagonal movement is intentional when the mother is scared, but it's not hahaha. I really liked your point of view about it, and I will take it very much into account in updating the mother cat's movement as soon as I can upload a new version of the game.
The intro cinematic was very pretty, but also too long.
Thank you very much for the feedback, it is appreciated in order to improve the final version of the game.
As for the gameplay, I need to better clarify the player's objective when “saving” the kittens. I don't make it as clear as I thought.
The cinematic serves as an introduction to the story and the player's objective, but it's true that the final part is too slow. I also don't let the player escape from the cinematic by pressing any button.
As for the mechanics, the jumping is a bug that used to be a feature hahaha. I will think about adding the jump functionality in the future and I will improve the experience with the cat's movement.
