It was kind of surreal in a sense, I think you played to the strengths of using limited resources to create an unsettling atmosphere.

It's a bit short and straightforward but for a first game jam I think that's fine.  Best wishes on your future endeavors!

This was an interesting experience. I found this a bit weird (in a good way) and definitely did not expect something like this. It feels more like an interactive film than a game, which is something I really liked about this.

I think you could really build up on this format to tell a longer story. Would have loved to explore more rooms in this atmosphere! Really great job with the sounds and the particles to create this atmosphere.

I liked the sound design, felt like a bit of a fever dream to me.

I don't want to sound rude but I bet you could do a lot better than this. The spooky music and spooky atmosphere you've aimed for is there but the story and context of "it's your birthday, but scary" just doesn't do it for me.

I guess I just don't think that birthday parties are a very scary thing... locking onto a more specific situation like losing your parents at a party or some sort of social anxiety might have been better.

I would still say good, but it depends what you're looking for in a game.

Looking forward to your future work that can build on this :) Being imperfect so you can learn is what Game Jams are for :)
