Really solid game, wouldn't mind it being longer! Don't have much else to add on top of what others have written.
This was a really nice platformer!
There often are platformers submitted to game jams, but most of the times the controls are a bit too smoothed out and they don't really feel snappy. This one does. The controls are really on point, so the character moves really precisely. It was fun to play with keyboard and also with a gamepad, thanks for including support for it!
On top of this you had a really good level design. They were hard, but not frustrating. I did die a lot of times, but that is just a proof of me being bad at computer games xD
I really liked the small signs with hints, it really helped me at a few points.
The art is amazing. It is "simple" and really cute. With simple I mean that it has a clean and simple look to it. (I do not mean that it is simple to create these beautiful pixel arts. I know how hard that can be). I liked the fact that you embedded the game in a small story! I would have loved a few back-references to the story in-game (though that is really nitpicky).
As you noted in the description, it could have used some music and sound effects. I put on some cosy christmas tracks while playing and had lot's of fun.
Especially for a solo submission this is top tier! Would love to see more levels in case you want to work more on this in the future.
One small minor note: There is a bug where you can fly off limits. When hooked onto one of these moving things you can jump up into a tile above the player. The player then is stuck. Trying to perform roles will push the player up. But I had fun discovering this :D
Super cute, very nice looking game! Loved the level design and interesting mechanics :)
Beautiful game with polished platforming. Really enjoyed it! It just needs some sound effects and a bit of music!
Wow, this game is really good in every aspects, and I just finished it! And I liked the pixel arts and animations, the level mechanics are very cool too! ^_^
The movement and the visuals are great! Really liked the levels too. Some sound would be good, but apart from that it's amazing, really impressive in under 48 hours
The visuals are so fricking pretty but the no audio really hurts the game!!! I'm not sure how big your team was, but deeeefinitely consider advertising for one next jam, there are plenty of sounds people around and your visual + coding work is stunning!
Thanks a lot! The "team" was just me, myself and I, hahaha. I was planning on doing sound and music, but I was unable to do so in the time frame. Otherwise I would have totally went for it. I'll definitely consider it for a post-jam version, if I ever make one. Thanks for playing and commenting!
Definitely amazing for a solo team, but yeah I'd encourage you to reach out on game jam's discords for teammembers!!! You're very skilled, you'd be able to find a sounds person in no time.
Really beatiful graphics and controls. The mechanics are really fun. Level design is clear. Kinda gives off Celeste vibes. I also love the way the sprite turns when you change direction. There was no sound, which slightly hurts it, but everything else is awesome :)
I really appreciate the kind words! It's good to know my level design turned out okay, since I think it's kinda not my strong suit. Appreciate you playing and leaving your thoughts!
Beautiful graphics. Some of the best spritework I've seen in this jam. I loved all of the platforming mechanics. My only two issues were that there's no sound and that the game is a little short. I'm sure both of these are due to the 48-hour constraint. Still an excellent game.
Thanks! Those issues are definitely due to the 48H time limit. The game actually had 6 more levels originally featuring more stealth platforming type gameplay, but I had no time to wrap up the graphics for them so I cut them. Similarly with the music. Maybe something to consider for a post-jam version? Thanks for playing!
I didn't see the surprise theme being used , but that could just be me. The graphics and controls are great but it lacked audio unfortunately. Overall though really enjoyable game! Great work! :)
I believe that the theme is used as a motive for the character. It tells a story
Thanks for the kind words! And yeah, as OSmart32 said, the theming if mostly in the story. I planned for that part to be a lot bigger with cutscenes as stuff, but as we all know game jams have a way of making sure at least half of the things you want to do, you don't have time for hahaha. Cheers!
Loved this game soooo much, like Celeste but with Santa. Good job.
Thank you! I can see the Celeste in it now that I think about it, ahahaha! Appreciate your thoughts!
Thank you for the kind words! The sound was something I really wanted to do, but I only got around to it an hour before the deadline, so I figured it's better to not have any than to rush it and deliver something lackluster. Maybe something to plan better for the next jam. Cheers!
Really pretty game! Very polished, I like how the character flips when you change direction it's a nice touch.
Thanks a lot! I like that touch, too. The first time I used it in a game it actually resulted from a bug in my code. But hey, it's not a bug, it's a feature right? :P Thanks for playing!
the game is super polished but I feel that its a little overly hard, if you die you just get completely reset to the beginning of the level...
Thank you, much appreciated! And yeah, I can see the difficulty being a bit too high, especially for people who may not play this genre of games as much as me. Unfortunately, game jams don't always allow the time to balance things properly. Cheers!
