The art direction is amazing! Using the limited colour pallet was a smart decision for ensuring that art assets could be produced quickly, combined with good aesthetic style, and being able to produce so much shows that your artist is very skilled! (I think they also reused some of the leg walkcycles, that's really smart!)
The gameplay is very satisfying, I particularly enjoyed the spider mechanic. However, this is definitely minimal viable product, and it's clear where you cut corners to get it done within the timeframe of the game jam. This isn't a bad thing, just noticeable.
The QA could be better, there are a few bugs in the game like being able to move while refilling fireflys sometimes, and sometimes the physics glitch and you bounce around all over the place. Your music also doesn't loop forever. There is also the full screen issue (which is solvable, our team ran into the same issue during our first gamejam (I think we manually set the resolutions to some value, and make sure to use the minimal unity html5 template) My game's viewport is too big for the page, can i make it smaller with CSS? - Questions & Support - itch.io ).
Anyway, all of these are minor gripes. This game is really fun! Congrats!
I love the art and the crank to reload. Felt so intuitive scrolling my mouse wheel to crank the lamp.
Cute art and nice music! One of the most cohesive games of the jam.
I really liked the reloading mechanic. Having to stop to wind up your weapon could be really suspenseful in a chase, and having the reload animation match the input of a scrolling wheel was satisfying!
I think it needs obstacles, more enemies, and a slower character to make it challenging. The invisible walls were annoying to bump into in a chase, but the player is so quick, it didn't even matter. Looping the music would help a lot, as well.
Overall, very charming, and a solid start - Great job to all!
Nice art and interesting reload mechanic! I specifically enjoyed zooming around the map while reloading, (not sure if that was an intended feature or not but it was fun none the less). Overall an enjoyable submission!
Just incredible you made an excellent game in 3 days , good art good gameplay its fantastic well done!
The game is great, really unique and spooky. I love the fact you cannot stay in one spot for too long otherwise the spider will spawn, therefore you need to constantly move, that's a really cool idea. Also, fireflies don't need to be visible for you to collect them, which makes perfect sense since they are small, I love that. Maybe you could add some kind of waves of enemies, currently it's kind of easy. Keep up the good work! :D
Interesting art style, never seen one like this. Great opponents and mechanics, but the gameplay is quite simple and boring. Maybe adding some kind of progression system could help.
I like it art design, gameplay is not bad
enjoyed this game a lot, the art, the suspenseful ambience the music and sfx, wished the music would loop, try to survive as long as I could to keep listening to the music
The art style is super cute!!! Also liked your animation.
Your choice of b/w colors and soundtrack creates this dark atmosphere (also that spider kinda scared me lol), and I really like that mechanics where you need to "recharge" your lantern. The difficulty never changes, though, so you can run there in circles for a very long period of time, but the game itself is great!
Graphics were super good and really created an atmosphere! Gameplay became repetitive quite easily though, but overall i enjoyed it! The spider scared me when it popped up right on top of me lol.
Art is nice and the music too.
The assets are cute, while being quite frightening. I liked the artistic choice of colors. There is a great amount of work on animations, but I think they would look best with larger strokes and less in-between frames. The overall design is well thought of.
Concerning game design, it would maybe have been better to have some checkpoints because not knowing where to go is a bit frustrating + it is really really easy to die in the beginning of the game (when trying to figure out controls).
Great work overall :)
I loved the choice of assets and styling that went into this; it really stood out as having a polished, professional look to it! The multi-purpose mechanic of the fireflies lamp worked really well, especially with the scroll wheel (I was dubious of using the scroll wheel at first, but it fit in perfectly with the mechanics in the game.) Great work!
