Really like the unique mechanic of the fishing rod being both a tool to attract enemies and defeat them. It opens up quite a bit of strategy and I can see this being part of an even bigger game or a more developed game centred around this idea. Awesome work! I couldn't really see a strong connection to the theme however, and the rotation of the rod was a little awkward to handle.
This was really awesome! I loved the fishing rod with bobbers doing more and more damage concept, I've never seen anything quite like that and really enjoyed playing around with it. The art was cute, though to me the clarinet sound effects and pizz strings got a little repetitive, but I really did like the game. i played on easy, and died to two super kevins at once that cornered me and i couldn't move or attack. Then I tried it on hard and was able to win no problem against just a single one. Not sure what caused that.
But really, that core fishing rod mechanic is fantastic
Cool and very unique game. It did take me a bit to understand how to play. Once I got the hang of it though, it was fun and entertaining! :)
I really enjoyed your game. I didn't understand it at first because lazy me didn't check the controls, but after checking them I knew what to do and was rocking the game.
The game wasn't too difficult and I generally didn't use the sprint key because I didn't need it and forgot about it most of the time. The sprint is a little too fast too. The enemy AI is very simple, but sufficient enough. If you plan to upgrad the game I would suggest giving the player more space to walk around and giving the enemies different behaviors because right now you have the typical run in a circle motion to avoid enemies.
I really liked the idea with the fishing rod, but the holding position of the fishing rod is a little weird because it is at an angle to the throwing direction which is very confusing. Maybe let it point to where the player is aiming and have a little animation when charging the throw and performing the throw.
Oh man, this game is so damn cool. The controls are unusual, the sprites are wacky, but the only thing that hits up to me, is that I can’t see where the zenojam’s theme is. But, apart from that, solid 4/5.
