Combining 2D pixel style with low poly 3d isn’t easy for anyone in Gdevelop. You can see that this game really tries to capture it. Simple and low poly like most of the games in the 3d game in the game jam this game clearly does its own thing in a unique way. Using clever 4th wall breaking to express to the player glitches happening in the game world if the player were playing it on their pc. However the game is not perfect and lacks in certain areas. One such area is having a tutorial section, hoping into this game blind to the controls is a real issue and I hope is fixed if the developer continues. I have no real issues with the graphics, clean and simple, what I will suggest is that the developer learn UV wrapping and texture mapping in his 3d program so that the walls and building has more of a unique style that simply just another single shaded low poly game on GD.games. Going further into graphics I wish there was a little bit more world building and characters to talk to. Having a town with just 2 npcs was a bit of a let down but I liked the idea. As for the gameplay, with no control guides even in the description, fighting what I assume was the boss of the game was confusion turning into a platform with a Undertale style mechanic. When it comes to the sound I like the chiptune music that was playing in the background, the negative side to that again was no option to turn the music or sound down. The sound and music needs a little work as the scratchiness was starting to get annoying. While it is fair to say that this is a game jam entry and some things can be forgiven, the develop did fall into the trap of feature creep adding to much gameplay mechanics. While it does showcase the developers code skills its takes away so much to its unique style and storyline. With more time I think this game can be made into something that stands tall next to the likes of Undertale. Good job on the graphics and I hope to return to this game one day and see a totally graphically inspiring game with awesome gameplay. Best of luck.
