So glad to see you still working on this game brother. Really a gem in a sea of mediocre and clone games in the Gdevelop community. Keep it up love the update.

Combining 2D pixel style with low poly 3d isn’t easy for anyone in Gdevelop. You can see that this game really tries to capture it. Simple and low poly like most of the games in the 3d game in the game jam this game clearly does its own thing in a unique way. Using clever 4th wall breaking to express to the player glitches happening in the game world if the player were playing it on their pc. However the game is not perfect and lacks in certain areas. One such area is having a tutorial section, hoping into this game blind to the controls is a real issue and I hope is fixed if the developer continues. I have no real issues with the graphics, clean and simple, what I will suggest is that the developer learn UV wrapping and texture mapping in his 3d program so that the walls and building has more of a unique style that simply just another single shaded low poly game on GD.games. Going further into graphics I wish there was a little bit more world building and characters to talk to. Having a town with just 2 npcs was a bit of a let down but I liked the idea. As for the gameplay, with no control guides even in the description, fighting what I assume was the boss of the game was confusion turning into a platform with a Undertale style mechanic. When it comes to the sound I like the chiptune music that was playing in the background, the negative side to that again was no option to turn the music or sound down. The sound and music needs a little work as the scratchiness was starting to get annoying. While it is fair to say that this is a game jam entry and some things can be forgiven, the develop did fall into the trap of feature creep adding to much gameplay mechanics. While it does showcase the developers code skills its takes away so much to its unique style and storyline. With more time I think this game can be made into something that stands tall next to the likes of Undertale. Good job on the graphics and I hope to return to this game one day and see a totally graphically inspiring game with awesome gameplay. Best of luck.
Once upon a time, many seasons ago. There was a small village of musically talented and gifted wizards. One day a fairy came to there village and taught them how to combine their musical talents with their magic gifted by the Gods. Until a great darkness fell upon the this little village, monsters of all kinds started to ravage the town until nothing was left. Not all is lost only one little wizard remained a young talent musician and spell caster named Clara. She was working in the fields tending to her herbs and medicines until the fairy came to tell her the grave news. It is up to her to save what is left of her village so she goes on a quest to rid the land of these evil ones.
The concept of this game is original and Innovative. However the controls are a bit confusing did not recognize it as music notes. E chord C Chord and so on. I did get confused when it came to casting the spells using the number system and constantly pressed the letters on my key board instead of the numbers. What I would suggest is changing the numbers on the top to maybe the numbers on the left of the arrow keys and make the movement wasd this way the player can be quick as fast with their spells, so if you are going to change it instead of going if key num 1 is press select if numpad 1 is press . Also to note excusing the pun is to identify the notes as music sheet notes instead of cords then that way the player will not get confused. I have to confess I did watch the review of the game by LevelupwithAlex so I instantly knew how to play the game if I didn’t I would have never guessed they were notes. Graphics wise the characters are small and cute like final fantasy 2 on SNES but, as I understand you probably didn’t have enough time to put in more assets. Would be nice to see a full fledged map with more to do and see like shops and other villages. The sound does switch off every other sound when I cancel the spell. I hope this game continues to be worked it is a nice concept especially for music lovers. Keep it up.
Puzzle Bobble, Magic Drop, Busta Move and now Unstable –– Merge–– Game ?????? hmmm. More like Animal Pop yes that sound a bit better. While the name is questionable the game is not. This has taken me back to my arcade days of putting a coin in the cabinet and trying to beat the girl at the arcade that always broke my high score on Magic drop. This game has its own unique way of the tetis and bobble bubble genre and instead of make the bubbles go away you have to merge each bubble or in this case each animal to change into a bigger animal but that is not all the more you merge the bigger bubble gets so you have to really get the big ones out as quick as possible while random sized bubbles fall from both sides. I would love to see this with more stylized graphics like scenery from developers home country or from around the world. If you looking to keep the kids busy for hours or just want your wife to get off your case for a few minutes give them this game. The best part its on mobile perfect for those long trips or flights cross country. Small issue the developer should have made the screen on portrait instead of landscape but that is a small issue compared to how fun this game is. Graphic Nostalgia Studios Salutes you sir. We want more.
This games graphics is done really well the dev clearly spent a lots of time on it. Unfortunately because of that it lacks in certain areas. The biggest thing I found was the audio. I understand that pressure gets to all of us during a game jam and these things get overlooked. When I started the game the music audio was somewhat overlayed on top of another and got to the point where I had to mute the sound after awhile. Having sound options would have been nice just to hear the sound effects which were better than the music being played. Definitely above average for platformer with the fire effects burning down things like wooden platforms and books adds that little bit of flare to your everyday platformer. Being a unstable fire themed type game the effects displayed like rain was a nice addition. Would be cool too see a warning message come up on the top saying something like warning rain approaching or the gods are not happy to go with the theme so that it gives the player time to rush and get the key and jump to the next stage. It did not make sense to me that being a fire mage having a floor of fire would hurt me. Other than those things a average rating and a good platformer. Would like to see this worked on more and see where the dev will take it. Good Job
He was an agent and the terrorists wanted him to complete their evil plan of world domination. He was the only one with the access codes, but he refuse to give in to scum like them. So they forced him into it how you make ask. A poison so deadly that it unstably makes your heart rate go up and down under stress. One man one solution “find the cure” Catch the gripping story tonight on GD TV Staring Mariano Jara as Agent Vanegas and Arnold Schwarzenegger as The unknown terrorist in RELAX !!!! ( queue the explosion transition) only on GDTV at 19:30 pm EST lol. This games opening is like a movie and I love it. Your 3D modelling is so inspired I haven’t seen many gdevelop devs wrap UV’s like you did with this game. It looks like you did this in Unreal bro. There are a few things I have to point out. Gameplay is bit confusion I have the mission but I am unable to find out what to do once I have spoken to the guy on the radio. Visually the game is amazing but it makes the gameplay a bit sluggish even on chrome. The audio I will give 5 stars simply because I love how it is narrated. Other than those few things good game it just feels like a showcase of graphics and story as apposed to gameplay. Very impressive game I would love to play a finished copy and review this again.
Hey man I get it. Nobody wants to be criticized God knows I don’t like it especially living with a dad like mine for 27 years. We all here to help each other get good at what we do to be a community. Take everything with a pinch of salt. Take a breath and calm down it has been a loooooong 9 days for all of us man. Don’t stress to much most of us are not out to put you down. We want to see you be a great developer. Stay Retro Vigor.
I love how this is put together the 3d is on par with slender man. The audio had me looking behind me all the time for jump scares you deserve the 5 stars for that. Super fun to play and visually beautiful for a game made in 9 days. I did have issues with collision I found myself walking like a ghost through trees and houses, or maybe I am the monster in this story (dan da tan taaaaaa) lol. Anyways would defiantly see this being played by youtubers if worked on more. Well done AshenCryStudio I hope you find success in this game.
Do not worry bro, you all good. I wasn’t too harsh on your rating like you said only 1 other dev did more or less the same thing. I understand that time is an issue for most devs in these jams. If you need a pixel artist for your next jam dm me on discord. I also do 3d modelling as well. I will say this your auto jump is better timed than the other game.
Hey Vigor, look man I am not here to doubt your development skills. I am trying to give you some constructive input one dev to another. I’m sorry I didn’t see your art and assets in the description until you said it. It was extremely small for a old developer like me to see but you need to mention where you got the assets and credit it is in the rules. I am not saying you should make your game 3D or 2.5D or have leaderboards but the actual judges do give points for that in the jam if they think your game wasn’t good enough they do it to average out your game. I’m just helping you to broaden your scope in game development. As for the mobile support I am playing on pc so I would not have seen it and you need to verify that in your description for people that are rating you game on pc. I am not nailing you for it, I’m helping you, your game is good dude. When it comes to motivating the player let me tell you something from someone like me that has been playing games for 25 years and developing them for 10. Motivation to the player is everything what is the point of people playing the game if there is not a reward for doing so beside finishing it. All I am saying is put coins and a score counter or anything to get the player to the next level. I’ll go back and change my rating ok just be mindful of how you respond to comments it shows what kind of a person you are to the judges and they do read comments.
There is potential with this game. A few things that need to change to take it from average to exceptional. You audio is excellent I wouldn’t change a thing except maybe have an options menu at the start for sound and music as not everyone likes chiptune. Graphics for the character and story are awesome the only thing keeping it from being great is the background. Just a little more time into the visuals for the background would have been awesome like the first few levels could be the science building or something. The mechanics are okayish, the reason why this gets an average score in this regard is because there is one other game that is similar but they used an asset pack instead of making their own graphics however this also drops your originality down. Theme is on point, but minus points for no 3D, No mobile, no leaderboards. That would have at least put your game slightly above average. But keep at it dude I’m sure this can be a great game.
Long ago in a time long forgotten a warrior named Hun was destined to prove his worth by climbing the most unforgiving tower in the land The “Tower of Unstable death”. Armed with nothing but his own strength and tight but light armour he bravely goes where no warrior has gone before. Climbing inch by inch he is determined to prove himself and be the king of the unstable tower (queue the lightning and thunder audio and heavy metal 80’s rock music). This was a fun game, I love the sound effects. No english audio just gibberish which adds to the games unique aesthetics. However the game is not as perfect as it could be. The colors in the start while retro does hurt my eyes having a 50% grey castle wall at the beginning instead of a extremely bright cyan would have got you that extra point. Same goes for the text in the beginning talking to what I assume is a wizard. It was a bit too much. I suggest next time putting a separated menu option for the games lore or putting it in a tutorial as an option. The RNG needs a bit of work as well, some of the platforms repeat the same section a bit to much and I find myself restarting a lot. No 3D, No mobile, No Leaderboards so sad to see a low on that front. Other than that awesome game man would like to see a full product of this. Keep it up.
While this game is fun to play and level 4 threw me off completely. The game does leave a lot to be desired. I am not sure about if the graphics are made by the developer or assets but nothing was said in the description to verify that. so I am unable to give a correct rating on that stand point. The audio lacking would have been nice to hear some quirky music play in the background just to give you that average score. Speaking of backgrounds, again while a basic background, it still doesn’t have that wow factor visually. Innovation is average having the platforms spin was interesting. In line with the theme, 3d would have been awesome, or at the very least have something to collect and have a leaderboard. There is nothing motivating the player to move forward. I hope you work on this a bit more. Keep it up.
An asylum in the middle of nowhere, that has the sound of a squeaky wheel chair lurking its halls. Many souls that travel to see this phenomenon end up going missing. Most go for the experience and thrill while others go for the rumors of a priceless green emerald neckless that is worth millions. Are you brave enough to play this story ?. For someone that is 14 years old to make this, young man you are epic. It is always nice to see young people work hard on something like this. Full marks for the audio, I was getting chills every second. Graphics is well done, I just wish I could have seen a bit more detail on the floor to match the awesome scenery you have going here. Also the I understand you want the players to be immersed but the wheelchair is a bit slow other than these minor things I would love to see a full commercial release of this game and hopefully some youtubers play your game ;)
A skeleton trapped in a watery grave, his only way out is with the help of his friends the birds. It’s not all that easy though as he soon discovers a fiery pit awaiting him outside of his prison. There is only one way out. Those unstable platforms hanging by a thread. But the birds are here to help. This is a beautifully visual and fun mechanical game. I like the title screen and custom mouse pointer. The fact that you can play with the bones is a nice touch. The game is a bit hard to get the hang of. The graphics are polished really well. As for originality not much going on, on the platformer side of things but oh man the physics adds some innovation to the game with the just a little bird keeping you from falling into the fire. I would have at least like to have this on mobile but great game dude. Well done.
To anyone having trouble with the game. The corrected version is on newgrounds if you want a clean none buggy version. I was too in a rush to get my account sorted trying to upload this game to the jam I chose the incorrect version. Links to the newgrounds page is on on the Graphic Nostalgia Studios itch.io page right at the bottom of the description.
Thanks for the feedback marcelozarate. Sorry to say our retro games don’t hold your hand with mini maps like the modern games. We will be implementing difficulty modes and the selection to have mini map on or off. As for it not being unstable. Have you tried just picking up weapons and destroying the other rival cars. Who knows maybe something will go wrong and test your driving skills.
A bridge workers job is never done. An unexpected hero tries his best to keep a bridge from collapsing and helping people get across safely. The unsung hero Captain Repair Man!!!! (queue the echo) (play 90’s cartoon intro). Super fun game trying to stop on the right block perfectly was a challenge. Graphics are simple and noticeable. Once you understand the job(tutorial) you are good to go and set the high score. Would like to see this done with more time. Good job 10/10
Want to learn what its like to work in a shipping dock and use those big awesome cranes without the hardwork. ““Stack it”” is the game to play. Carefully judging when to drop boxes at the right spot is nerve wrecking dare I say ünstable :3. Graphically the pixel art is clean and the colors match beautifully with the sky blue background sound is awesome seagulls were a nice touch. 9.5/10. The 0.5 points is not your fault. Lets just say there are too many stack em up games in the jam. Only critique I can give is, try and use the physics in some way by trying to pick up the boxes and getting them to the ship. If the box falls from a certain height level its game over, I understand time was an issue so an auto seemed seem to be the right choice to save time. But awesome job on this had me in a nice rhythm then I got surprised when the crane started to go up very unexpected and a nice mechanic.
Wow just wow. I’ve never seen 3d games in gdevelop like this one. Angela a heroin that can manipulate the objects around her to get where needs to go and stop the gooie baddies. The physics are amazing the buttons layout is nice. Right click to shoot while using your matrix powers with the left click. It takes some getting used but its worth playing once you get the hang of it. Some of the issues are just general pixel design polish, object layout, minor collisions and physics issues. While the polish on the pixel art needs work the low poly 3d makes up for what is lost with the pixel art. I had to turn the sound off because two songs were playing at the same time. Speaking of songs love the music. The game is another example of how gdevelop can make games even more awesome with physics. Well done. Please work on this would love to see a more commercial release.
Game looks and sounds fun. I had a hard time figuring out the buttons. I’m not sure if you used RNG when the bread machines break but they happen a bit too fast. It does fit in with the unstable theme. Pixel art looks good animation are quirky. Next time please put the buttons or a tutorial in the beginning. Its an honest mistake but it did drop you down in points for gameplay. Fun,quick and simple. Good job would like to see a more polished version.
Not saying its a bad thing bro, yes bad art can make good gameplay, but if you using assets that the majority of developers use it devalues the gameplay to are trying to relay. I struggle with code but I push myself to learn it for the sake of my own artistic expression to the people play my game. If you look at undertale horrible pixel art awesome game. Just some food for thought. I’d be happy to collab and provide my skills in art if you decide to enter another jam in the future.
For an amateur game this not terrible. There is a lot here that can be improved. The most positive thing I can say about this game is that the graphics are okayish. No sound, which was a missed opportunity to earn some points. Nothing really stands out in innovation. And I see nothing related to the theme given. I would say its charming in gameplay and story but not enough to get that 5. I don’t know if the character is meant to change animation or if its just a bug. I would like to see a more profession look to this title in the future. I know it can do better. Don’t give up.
What a blast from the Nintendo past. Playing this brought back so many memories from my childhood. From the limited pixel color palette of deep purples and reds to the interesting gameplay mechanics is one of the most innovative games I’ve seen on this jam. At first the game is hard to get the hang of flying and once you have it nailed down you are truly a bat out of hell. The sound and music is just like most of the Nintendo games back in day. 10/10 is well deserved here. Would love to see more of your work.
Only unstable psychopath like this game and we did. All jokes aside the game is fun showcasing how bones and physics in gdevelop work to make some interesting gameplay. This could have gotten some more points if the it had some music and better graphics. Having the guy happy to be knocked around is a bit of the opposite. Other than that its with in the theme, fun to play and original. Well done. Keep working on stuff like this and who knows maybe even make a fully fleshed out game could be made, pun intended.
Thank you for playing my game Clark. Sorry about the sound we didn’t have enough time to put them all into audio channels we had some delays with the sound on the 7th day of the jam. We are working on fixing the game and all its bugs after the Jam. Thanks again for your feedback the studio really appreciates it stay retro my friend.
Hi ClyphDrops, thank you for playing my game I’m glad you liked it. The only studio that I paid to make this game was for a template made by Ulises Freitas from Crimson Games because of time constrains. Everything else was made by the team and I at GNOStudios. As for the track it is was deliberately made at this zoom level because old Nintendo games like Road Fighter never showed players when the road was going to be narrow or wide or when certain cars were going to appear one had to be quick with the turning. I have taken your feedback in and will speak to my team about changes for the future updates of this game. Thank you again for your feedback you Rock and keep it retro nostalgic brother.
This is an all in one game. Guns, melee combat, upgrades and tough enemies. The fact that it all takes place in a bar while people are having drinks is just the icing on the cake and the cake is not a lie. Keep it straight is literary what this game is. Dodging bottles being thrown, drunk Vikings trying to hit you with axes to tough guys with guns, all while trying to keep the place from falling apart. Best part about this is robbing the baddies, taking their money and getting those upgrades. The pixel art is absolutely epic and simple. I would highly recommend this game. Defiantly in my top 10. Would love to see a commercial release.
Game is challenging. The sound is very interesting. Graphics are excellent while it is low res you can still see the characters and enemies. Having the music play while I was trying to read the story was annoying. Level 2 is fun. One thing that I didn’t like was in level 1 having to mount my horse everytime I died would be nice to have a check point already mounted on the horse and riding. There is a bug I found, if you push up at the top of the map while riding the horse you can press jump to get past everything. The graphics for the quicksand could have been slightly darker just players can see it. Also hitbox needs to be fixed and refined I found myself thinking I dodged a enemy only to die seconds later. Other than a few bugs its a good game keep it going.
One of the coolest games here. Super unique combining platformer with a timer and having other players ghosts in the screen with you. Rotating the scene was a nice touch adding challenge to the unstable theme. Only 2 things I would like to see in the future. 1 the option to turn off ghost mode or at the very least view who did better after the run is done showing the ghost players. 2 and I always go to this, free/paid assets are a quick way to make the game to test mechanics but once you have everything working you should spend some time on making your own assets or at the very least change up the free/paid assets so minus some points there for graphics. Awesome job bro.
