Survey Mission Gamma-9B

Hello NebulaOblivion! I’m DataPotato and this is my review of your game. Your game is great and I don’t mean to be too critical, this is just one perspective on your glorious game. Always remember Hanlon’s Razor, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.", and yes this introduction is copy-pasted, now let’s get into it by relevant categories!

Presentation:

Wowie! First of all the name. Awesome, makes me want to play so badly! The thumbnail is epic and the font is like a corporate mission file label, though you might get more mileage out of a cool space font, idk, i’m not a graphic designer, well i guess technically i am, anyway…. The itch page is also really cool! And then we enter the game….

I am an astronaut. I explore my spaceship listening to a serene space song, a piece that melts my mind and heart. But I have the courage to continue. In the isolation of space I explore my shuttle as if seeing things for the first time. Lights and shadows reflect the combination of nature and emptiness and my manmade metal mishmosh spaceship. My infantile suggestions to my body are often met with cynical jokes, as I wish to stare into my fridge. Perhaps the movement and jumping feels a bit strange, but it does not wake me from my waking dream. The emotions I feel now are new ones. But with time comes the realization that my ship is piloting itself, and maybe I should check on it.

An oort cloud. My favorite kind of cloud. I need to navigate manually. I have a purpose and it fills me with conviction! I exit hyperspace and there it is. The infinite outerspace now closing in in a wave of rocks. I fire a laser on accident and the shock flows through my body. The action is on!

Narrowly clipping several asteroids but cushioned by my high-tech shuttle I make my way to the goal projected by my spacecraft. At this point my documentation pauses while I ponder the asteroids and their purpose.

And suddenly we’ve found a planet, rich in something, I dunno, but it’s gonna make me rich. And then another pirate comes, and he totally tries to kill me! But I accidentally loop behind him and bust him to bits! The smile on my face is on my face… And that’s it. I did it.

Wow… Reality check…. ooof…. Ok, I’m DataPotato, and I’m reviewing this game…. My only qualms were in the space fight and the lasers which kept scaring me…. This was seriously such a great game….

I go back to my ship, and stare at the outside of my fridge for the rest of the day…

This was not a usual review, but the game was just such an experience… Everything, from the art to the music….

Thank you Datapotato! I'm glad you had a good time! Originally, I was gonna make a fridge opening mechanic, and let players explore a whole new space, filled with milk, and eggs, and asparagus or whatever, but alas, there's only so much time in a jam!
