The screen might just be black. are you able to try to navigate to a door where you could enter another area to reset the "fade to black"?
if the music plays and you can use the menu that's just a "fade out" black and you should be able to move around even if you can't see anything. To reset the screen you could try to find an exit to another area in Pine Island in the dark and reset the "fade out" when you enter that area.
Did you use an older save from another build?
