It says in the beginning tutorial text you start with nothing so you just hover your mouse over the respective spots

hover mouse over stuff for a long while and whatever is produced.

first forest , the cauldron, then apothecracy (all in the middle from the left to the right).
then you got money that you can buy floors at the top building, which gives you witches to get stuff started
