Ah, it's fine. As you said, the error seems to be related to an issue with RAM or perhaps the RPG Maker engine itself, since it occurs after the game has been running for beyond 8-10 minutes (some games I run will slow down or experience a drop in performance after some time has passed due to a lack of available RAM).
I ran the game again, and the screen froze on the transition for a couple of seconds before, oddly, transitioning to the normal battle scene for around 3 seconds before it froze and cut to black. Music and sound still played.
