I don't really see the appeal of building weapons that only fire straight while also building structures to block incoming.

Also, once the weapons are gone, you have to just sit idly by waiting for the structures to get blown up. Why can't I build during waves?

you have to build to get higher because the enemies will get taller with every few waves. you could of course only build some weapons with only one block but eventually the enemies will just step over it.

when all of your weapons are destroyed you can just reset and try again in the Pause menu.
