Thanks for trying the game! What you experienced was a mechanic that we weren't able to explain properly enough through the UI. The hamburgers are meant to be dragged to the stomach to actually get the astronaut to digest it.
Ahh that would explain it! Might give it another go now that I know one more way to make him not die lol
