Very original idea! I would never have thought of merging these two games.
It deserves some more experimentation and tweaking to see how far the concept can be pushed.
My main issue is the game feel. Moving on a grid based system is cool for the tetris part, but not very confortable for the shooting part. Maybe you can experiment with something closer to a schmup.
