With the option OFF, scenes load faster, but the transitions between stages take a few seconds in the worst cases. When the option is ON, the screen stays black for a few seconds at the start, but the transitions between stages are instantaneous.

Basically the first option consumes more CPU, and the second consumes more RAM, so you could try turning it ON and see if it improves the scenes for you. If it does not, then I’ll need more details on the exact issue you’re having, so I can try to reproduce and attempt to fix it :)
