massive 🤓☝️ moment but in the chess game Leo and Hunter play against each other i haven't found any possible move combination to lead to a checkmate in 5 or less moves in which the moves narrated work. I know this probably doesnt mean a lot to other people since i haven't seen too many people playing chess that also play this vn but i just thought it was funny to point it out lol
- White pawn to d4
- Black pawn to f5
- White bishop to g5
- Black pawn to h6
- White bishop to h4
- Black pawn to g5
- White pawn to e4
- Black captures the bishop on h4
- White queen to h5 delivering checkmate
- White pawn to e4
- Black pawn to e5
- White queen to h5
- Black knight to c6
- White bishop to c4
- Black knight to f6
- White queen captures f7 delivering checkmate
I might have figured it out now! My mind is clear now after this reply and this was a very fun "puzzle" (albeit not very hard now that I muse back over it now lol) to solve so here it is :
White - Black
1. d4 - e5
2. dxe5 - Bc4
3. Nd2 - Qh4
4. Ngf3 - Qxf2#
Reasoning (+ explanation for people that dont play chess) :
1. d4 (White Pawn to d4) - "I move one of my pawns into the center of the board."
e5 (Black Pawn to e5) - "He makes his first move, challenging my pawn."
2. dxe5 (Pawn takes Pawn on e5) - "I instinctively take his pawn off the board with mine"
Bc4 (Bishop to c4) - "That's... the bishop. Diagonal moves only?"
3. Nd2 (Knight to d2)(or horsey :3) : "[...]moving the horse-shaped pieces early in the game is a good strategy... / And protecting my king is good too. Given those facts, I make my move."
Qh4 (Queen to h4) - "[...] bringing out another important piece." [...] "The queen! That can move in any direction, right?"
4. Ngf3 (Knight from g1 to f3) - "I think carefully about my next move. Maybe another horse move? I could even make a threat against his queen with that idea."
Qxf2# (Queen takes Pawn on f2 and Mate) : "[...]he catapults his queen straight towards my king."
Amazing stuff. Thanks for giving chess some attention in the FVN scene too. (i would like to meet these chess buffs and i hope there will be more chess in the future updates :3)
Yeah, my bad! The move is actually Bc5 for Black. This is probably a one in a lifetime opportunity for me to see chess being used in such an intriguing way in other forms of media to portray it not only as the plain old "old people game" but also how deeply connected to real life as a whole is and I can't help but be excited! Hunter's sequence related to pieces sacrificing themselves to protect the "King" due to them actually having no other choice actually got me thinking as to what is he actually referring to. I can't wait for the future updates! Again, thank you PtK Gang for offering us such amazing characters and story. <3
