Did you make a fresh install of it? Or did you let the app update on top of a already existing install?

So I've found out why it was happening
Apparently when I downloaded the latest version it didn't update the app but instead just installed a completely fresh one but the older one remained and still was able to use the lastest one's features and reported as 0.8.1, but it's was still the version prior
