I was mostly neutral towards them, but occasionally insulted them and even complimented them if the next day it made the world gray. Basically don't go to work too many times (don't go on day 2 or its automatic gray world), hang out with them (skipping makes it easier to be neutral), for the map maker actually do what they want (i found that if i just exited it, i would get gray world), and don't ask them what they want to do for dinner. You should try to save every possible day so you can go back if you made them too unhappy with you
