i also won't keep a secret about what i did for the fair competition.
i did everything you guys mentioned, but on the first cutscene, when the transition starts happening - press escape and restart the game.
that will let you continue from level 2 (well level 1, but no cutscene), but the timer will restart. that saves you around 2 seconds.
