Loved the game when I downloaded the jam version, been playing it on and off for months, really balanced and pretty challenging but still beatable, and the art style, just WOW. Decided to download the new version and I cant stand it, the similarity is practically gone with the cards, gameplay, and art style, fundamentally the art style is still there but the character movements and even some enemies that should be familiar just aren't, I feel like I'm playing an entirely different game. The devs had something going with the one path story line and the cards that the user could get. Imo only thing this game needed from original creation was more truffles, a save function, and a longer story like something after getting the final key, and beyond that different enemies and maybe some additional cards. I'll just keep playing the original version when I feel like playing a deck-builder combat, not touching this version again. Less IS more. This had the potential to be like inscryption and even surpass it, inscryption ruined itself with that pokemon-esque style and all the additional stuff after you beat leshy the first time, and this had the chance to remain with the same art style for enemies, movement, cards, and playstyle. If it aint broke don't fix it. Nothing but love to the devs, just my 2 cents.

Hey! I’m the sole programmer on Shroom and Gloom at the moment. I totally respect your opinion, and agree with your take on the pokemon-esque 2nd act of inscription!

I can understand the frustration, but despite how you feel I’m going to make it my personal mission to make you like this version more than the jam version!

With that in mind, Id love to chat more about what frustrated you. My DM’s are open on the discord.

You’re gonna love our new Pokémon inspired gameplay we have planned.

Thanks for the love!
