Things I enjoyed:

  • Funny lore
  • Collecting things
  • Not being the main character for once
  • Simple combat
  • Cute graphics
  • You made it almost all by yourself

Things I didn't enjoy:

  • Most effective strategy is to spam click and hurt my finger
  • Always swung in walking direction in a game where often feels like retreat
  • Diagonal swinging does not exist but diagonal movement does
  • Heal mechanic was also never worth it, one heart for the amount of progress you give up is not worthwhile (is using soul to heal a Hollow Knight reference?)
  • Felt like there were always 2 things I had to deal with at once which made it stressful

Things I would change:

  • Add sound. Music and sfx are cool
  • Give the endscreen a beak instead of a smile
  • Smooth out the size increase
  • Make it so enemies generally come from one direction and that direction can slowly shift around the Bird. Makes it so that you're still fighting on all four sides but the combat is more focused
  • Heal costs 3 and gives 2 hearts
  • Diagonal attacks and diagonal walking animation
  • Wider swing but limit the attack rate to match the animation
  • Bird gets a healthbar

Overall, very well rounded game, very fun. Sorry if I sound like a jerk with the big list but it's designed to help you because feedback is very important for a developer to understand the experience their game gives out. Great job for your first jam! I'll try to get some others to rate it so that it reaches 20 and qualifies.

Thank you for the support; without it, I would have never gotten a 20+ rating.

And thank you for that big review (like real big).

I did not playtest the game that much, which is why many small changes would have been a great addition, in the future, I will ensure that I playtest my game more often.

**Is soul consumption a reference to Hollow Knight, yess, or maybe? I think it was an unconscious decision, but I think it is a reference to that.

Once again, Thank you soooo much, I never thought that anyone would find my silly little game soo much enjoying.
